Slow Food Open Day Peelham 29th October

Join us at the Open Day at Peelham Farm, an Organic mixed farm with an on-farm organic butchery in the beautiful Scottish Borders. The event will be a great opportunity to explore the farm, learn about organic farming practices and enjoy delicious three-course lunch.

October Edinburgh Farmers' Market

Our next Edinburgh Farmers' Market stall at Castle Terrace will be on Saturday 7th October. 

Steven Brown (owner of Pop) current Chef Alliance leader at Slow Food Edinburg will be cooking a seasonal squash soup. Using seasonal and local products for your meals not only guarantee better taste but also reduce your meal carbon footprint. 

This menu is supporting Slow Food Global Campaign Menu for Change, encouraging consumption of local food products as well as the Love Food Hate Waste campaign from Zero Waste Scotland.

Slow Food Big Table: Family Meal

We are pleased to announce the next Big Table event organized in collaboration with Ostara Cafe to support the Scottish Food & Drink Fortnight, following the daily food theme: Family Meal.

We’re inviting you to join us on Wednesday 13th September to explore and celebrate the family meal. During the event, Ostara’s Chef will present the dishes and will share their story. The menu includes a starter, a main and a glass of wine. There also will be a special kids menu with a main and a dessert.

Cost of dinner: members £12 (bring your membership card), non-members £14 and kids menu £8. The price difference between members and non-members will contribute to raising money for 10,000 Gardens in Africa - a garden in Kimashuku.

Edinburgh Food Festival

Join us at Edinburgh Food Festival between 26th - 30th July and celebrate the finest of Scotland’s food and drink. 

Our programme for five days is ready and we have a range of activities for you to take part in at our stall. From tasting sessions, through cooking demos to debates all to discover the best of Scotland's #goodcleanfair and artisan produced food from the Ark of Taste. We will bring together local producers and suppliers and spread the Slow Food message.


Chefs Alliance meets the Ark of Taste events- each day at 5 pm we will host a chef member of Chef Alliance who will be demonstrating what can be done with the "forgottenfood" Ark of Taste products

- Taste Experience events will feature Scottish Artisan Producers and some of Ark of Taste products

- Daily Bread event - each day we will be discovering products from Breadshare and Blair Atholl Watermill

Taste Adventure for Kids - sensory experience session for children - Sunday 30th at 2pm

- Slow Food Youth Network Scotland will host a panel discussion to discuss the role of young people in helping shape a 'Good Food Nation' within Scotland, bringing together young food entrepreneurs, producers and future food leaders – Sunday 30th a 4pm

Farm visit: Falkland Kitchen Farm

Join Falkland Kitchen Farm to explore the organic farm and enjoy a delicious meal. The evening will include a tour of our small scale organic farm followed by a three-course meal served on the field. The meal will be held in a traditional Bedouin tent so there will be some shelter from the elements but do dress warmly just in case! During the course of the evening, we will explore the theme of biodiversity and the role that organic farms can play in preserving traditional crop varieties and protecting native plants and wildlife.

The event takes place on 22nd July at 6:30 pm at Falkland Kitchen Farm in Fife. Tickets are £20 per person, for booking please email:

A Beer Story: Six Degrees North

Slow Food Edinburgh is pleased to invite you to a beer tasting with Six Degrees North on 19t July. A company that started off with a small fish restaurant in the North East of Scotland from there the company has grown to 3 bars a hotel and a larger brewery based just outside Stonehaven in the North East.

Six Degrees North brews in a "Belgian" style. Edinburgh venue has the biggest draught selection, boasting 40 taps upstairs allowing for an impressive range of beers. During the tasting, you will learn why a Belgian style, the differences with the style of beers we use to have here in Scotland and how the company uses ingredients coming from the fields and woods around t.he brewery.

The staff at Six Degrees North will guide you on a tasting that includes 4 samples of beer and paired nibbles. The events start 7 pm and The cost of the evening is £12 for Slow Food Members £13 for Non-Members, please register here.
