Terra Madre 2014 was certainly an extraordinary gathering.
There was a visit from Jamie Oliver, an opening ceremony video message from Michelle Obama, 1000 delegates from over 60 countries, 200 000 visitors over five days, the biggest assembly of Ark products ever, numerous workshops, lectures, tastings and general bonhomie. Certainly, all the indications are that Slow Food is now being taken seriously by those governments, the EU and others who now realise that food and biodiversity is the issue that cannot be ignored.
Our Scottish delegation, supporters, members and friends certainly did the UK proud in Turin, and gained a lot from the experience. On Wednesday 10th December we’re going to be bringing some of the Terra Madre spirit back to Scotland by celebrating Terra Madre Day with a special evening event at the Edinburgh Larder Café on Blackfriars Street.
Starting from 7pm, we’ll be hearing Terra Madre Tales and swapping memories, ideas and inspiration with delegates, students, producers and members, and sharing some great food that’ll bring Turin and Scotland together on the plate.
