You may have already have heard that the wonderful team behind the Edinburgh Farmers Market on Castle Terrace, Saturdays 9-2pm, have been celebrating their 15th Anniversary this week, June 22-28th with special events; #EFM15 Twitter Chat, 'Farm to Fork' at St. Andrews Square and Saturdays 15th Anniversary Party.
Besides providing Edinburgh chefs, locals and visitors with a unique opportunity to buy the best local produce on offer direct from the producers; the market creates a great convivial atmosphere which has enabled many happy friendships and collaborations between stallholders and their customers.
We feel very proud to be part of their celebrations as the market organisers have generously provided Slow Food Edinburgh with a free monthly stall for a number of years. Further live event info check out @edfarmersmarket / #EFM15
With their support we have been able to bring you a huge array of inspiring guests to the stall who have showcased what researching, cooking, producing, or even distributing Good, Clean and Fair ingredients and produce means to them. There have also been many occasions where the Slow Food Edinburgh committee have been supported in the provision of special ingredients from the market and have even hosted pop-up brunches and lunches!
All of those who have worked with us on the stall, as well as many of the market team have given up their time voluntarily to talk to passers by about Slow Food, and some individuals have done so for many years! Despite bad 'Scottish' weather conditions at times, all have left inspired by the unique opportunity the market and our stall has provided them with. Whether from supporting local producers, promoting the Slow Food ethos, fundraising for 10,000 Gardens in Africa and even in successfully recruiting new volunteers (including current committee members) to join the thriving Slow Food Edinburgh community! The gallery below includes just a handful of highlights from over the years...
Thank you to all the team from Edinburgh Farmers Market for your unparalleled support and consistent inclusion of Slow Food Edinburgh as active members in special events. Thanks also to our guests and the producers who have supported our stall over the years.
We are sure the success of this outstanding Edinburgh Farmers Market and the friendships made will continue for many years to come!
